OMG Nail Strips Review - Sherlock

Hey guys!  I have a fun review today.  I was contacted by OMG Nail Strips asking if I would like to review a few.  I *almost* said no, cause I don't have the best track record with these kinda things.  Sure I've only used one other set of nail strips, but it didn't go well.  I thought my nails weren't cut out for this kinda thing.  I even have a few sets that I was sent for review, but haven't tried, cause I know they're going to be a hot mess!  But, these were different, read on my friends, read on!

Chanel Taboo vs. Urban Decay Vice

Hey guys!  I have a comparison post today.  When I posted about Vice, I said I wanted to do a side by side comparison with Chanel Taboo, so here it is.

On my pinky and middle finger's is Taboo, and on my ring and index is Vice.  They are quite similar, but nowhere near dupes.  At one coat, they really didn't look similar, but at the second, darkened Vice.  The shimmer is similar in both, but there is much more of it in Taboo.  Taboo is alike a darker, richer Vice.

I'm glad to say I have both, whew.....no spenders regret for me!

I threw OPI's Every Month is Oktoberfest in there for funsies on my thumb....cause I thought it might be close too, but as you can see, it is not.

Gah....they're both purty right?!?

As you can see, the shimmer in Taboo is much bigger particles than Vice.

Hope that helps you guys....you might not *need* Taboo, but then again, maybe you do! : )

Essence - Here's My Number

Hello my friends.  Is anyone else upset that Essence has discontinued their Better Than Gel topcoat?!? Why Essence?  Why?  It has such a following!  But where they discontinue, they bring new items, so yay for that!  Honestly though, not a whole lot going on in the new Essence display (the displays at Fred Meyer's NOT to be confused with the Ulta display's, they are NOT the same).

My local Fred Meyer had *some* of the new items about a month ago, and since then, they haven gotten everything in.  Not a whole lot going on there, but that's ok.  This is one of the new polishes I picked up.

This is Here's My Number and it's a great glitter polish.  It's a mix of silver polish with lots of little black glitters and a sprinkle of multi colored glitter in it.  I'm pretty sure this is two coats, but it could possibly be three.

The multi color glitter adds a little extra ooomph to a charcol-y glitter like this.  Fun stuff yo!  Fun stuff!

p.s. damn you Essence for getting rid of a great topcoat!  Damn you I say!

p.p.s I will let you guys know of a great, cheap (albeit maybe hard to get your hands on) topcoat soon!

China Glaze - Too Yacht to Handle

Hey guys!  I had SOOOOOOOO much fun at the Renaissance Faire yesterday!  OMG, I felt so at home!  I REALLY wish I had some kind of costume to dress up!  Though I will admit, it was HOT.  It had to be 90 degree's out there.  And these people looked so crazy hot.  There were guys in full plate armor, and women in full elizabethan get up!  CRAZY!  And I did see ONE unicorn.  She was a hot effing mess too.  Hot damn, I want to make myself an awesome unicorn costume, for REALZ!! LOL!  The highlights were watching the horses (of course....naturally!).  I loved watching the joust, and the trick riding.  I always wanted to do trick riding when I was younger.  I remember doing some "tricks" on my little show pony.  Lots of fun!  Anywho....

I can't believe I haven't shown this polish sooner.  This *might* be my favorite from the China Glaze Sunsational collections....kinda hard though, since the whole collection is awesome!

This is Too Yacht to Handle.  This one went on with two easy coats.  The above pic is the closest I could get to how bright this one is.  And yes, it is like a neon For Audrey.

Yup.....go out and get it while you can!

Urban Decay - Vice

Hey guys!  Hope your weekend has started off well!  I'm excited to go to the Renaissance Faire tomorrow!  Hopefully I will get some pics!

I really wish I had gotten better pics of this.  Cause it's a lovely, lovely polish!  This is Urban Decay's Vice.  It looked verrrryyyy similar to Chanel Taboo on my nails, but not very similar in the bottle's.  I might have to do a side by side.

The formula on this was amazing too.  I could have done one coat, but I love the depth of two.

I had actually gone in wanting the other UD color, then I said to myself I didn't need ether, then I ended up with this *rolls eyes*.  Yeah, good self control Angie....

But lookit the cap of the bottle!!

Anyone else pick this one up?

Orly - Sparkling Garbage

Hey guys!  Here's what I wore on Friday, and I LOVED it.  Obviously this was taken prior to the big chop chop.  I think my favorite length is right in between shorties and this length.  This is just a tad too long for me.  And that damn index finger likes to curl in at the tips.  Annoying.  But it's nice to know I can grown my nails out without breakage.  Never thought it would be possible a few years ago!  Besides, shaping my nails suuuuucccckks!

But anywho, this is what I wore Friday.  This is two coats of Orly Sparkling Garbage over my favorite green Zoya Neely.  Anyone else snag this on clearance at Sally's like I did? I REALLY wanted this polish when it came out, but I wasn't wowed by swatches.  Well I sure am glad I was able to pick it up on clearance!  It's awesome!

This was so super blingy, and totally smooth which is nice for a glitter.  Easy removal too.  Actually now that I think about it, there isn't much difference between this and say, ChG Fairy Dust except the much denser holo glitter and the green base.  Yeah, I probably didn't need this but I dun care!

While this doesn't look like much in pics, it really was stunning in person!

Bling!!  Zing!

Anyone else score this on sale like moi?

Layla Softouch Effect - Limoncello

Hiya!  I have a fun color today.  Does it go well with my skin tone you ask?  Nope, sure doesn't but I don't care!  I LOVE it!

This is Layla's Softouch Effect in Limoncello.  I got this on clearance at Ulta, as seen by that eye catching orange sale sticker.  Anybody else hate those stickers?  Ugg, they never come off cleanly!

Limoncello is a gorgeous chartreuse color with TONS of depth.  This is supposed to be one of those matte, or flat color polishes, but it was just eh that way.  So I added topcoat, and I'm glad I did!  I do believe I wore 3 coats, as two was a little too sheer.

You know what this color reminds me of?  It reminds me of the sparkly finish on bumper cars.  Someone HAS to know what I'm talking about! LOL!  This is seriously a gorgeous polish....ugg, I'm so in love! : )

What do you guys think?  Is this a color you would wear?

Hoof Nail Color

This is a new to me nail polish I haven't seen before.  I was walking through my local Fred Meyer's, when this nail display jumped out at me.  I've seen the Hoof brand before, but I've only ever seen pedicure stuff from them.  This display had nail art stuff.  There was maybe 6 polishes, with matching caviar beads and flocking powder.  I didn't get any of that, but I did pick up two polishes.

This is the first one I've tried.  And there were some issues....we will get to those later.

None of these polishes have names, so the first one I tried was the purple metallic.  I actually haven't seen a dark purple metallic like this.  It looks AWESOME in the bottle.  The color is a little lighter and warmer.  But you know....purple...

Now, onto the problems.  This was suuuuuuppppppper thick and goopy.  This bubbled like crazy, you can see some evidence of that on my pinky....huge bubbles.

This polish was also super stinky.  Which I don't mind (I actually love stinky polish : P).

But that's not the worse of it.  Can you see the finish?  Once I applied topcoat, the color pigment in the polish smeared.  That's the best way to put it.  You know when you remove a metallic, how the base color seems to stay while the color pigment comes off?  Leaving behind a silver metallic?  That's basically what happened when I applied topcoat.  See below....

Yuck, yuck, yuck!  This looked HORRID in person!

If I wear this again (which I probably will, cause the polish is gorgeous!) I wouldn't apply topcoat.  I've already thinned it out, so I hope that will make the bubbles easier.

Woohoo!  Three posts in a row! : )

OPI - Peace & Love & OPI

I've had a super boring weekend.  Its consisted of working, reading and playing video games (for those of you wondering, I've been playing Tales of the Graces, and if you follow me on Instagram you will have seen this gem.  That basically sums up this series right there!).  So to sum it up, super boring, yet productive weekend!  : )

I was so excited when I saw the new OPI San Francisco collection at my Ulta. While I love my brights and neon's (especially since it is STILL summer), but I can't help but really want to wear Fall shades!  I even cut my nails down to wear them!

First one up is Peace & Love & OPI.  Anyone else feel like there's too many &'s?  Shouldn't it be Peace, Love & OPI?  Meh, whatever!

This one is GORGEOUS!  It's much better in person than it is in pics.  My pics can't seem to catch all the duochrome in this.  I had a hard time trying to pick between this and Essie's For the Twill Of It.  Honestly they were too close to own both, so the OPI won out.

It was a tad bit brush stroke-y, but not bad, and with a light hand you can barely notice it.  This was two easy coats.

Ignore those bubbles....we have been running our AC 24/7 and NYC In a NY Minute really dislikes AC.

Bleep bloop, I could NOT capture the color shifts well!

I would LOVE to know which polish from this collection you guys are looking forward to, so let me know!

China Glaze Sunsational Nail Art

Hey all!  I feel like I've been MIA lately....just no motivation.  And then I get all behind on my daily mani's and I start feeling overwhelmed.  Maybe I should do a spam post soon or maybe I will just delete them and start over, lol.

Yay nail art!  For this I used all the creme's from the China Glaze Sunsational collection.  All of them but one of the pink's.  I thought one pink was enough.

For this I used the at home OPI Spotted effect using the spray hand sanitizer, though I wasn't able to find my sanitizer....so I was going to use the hairspray technique, but I didn't have any pump spray hairspray.  So I improvised.  I used some spray conditioning oil I had in my bathroom.  Don't ask me why I used that, I have no idea! lol!  In hindsight, after I started, I thought maybe the oil would be a bad way to go, making the layers slide off each other, but as you can see it did actually work!

But damn was this messy!

Too make up for my absence, I invite you to watch these video's I found for y'all!

I want to steal that cat!  Best part you ask?  When the Roomba runs into the fridge....watch for it!  And the cute freckled pitty at the end?  Precious!

Hot damn!  And the end?  It's like a pegasus trying to take flight!  Gorgeous!!
