Illamasqua - Raindrops

Hi friends!  Long time no talk!  I've felt a bit unmotivated recently.  I just don't want to do much of anything.  Replying to emails and text, reading my good ol' blog feed....Instagramin....nothing seems to want to hold my attention.  I'm hoping that turns around soon.

In the meantime, I want to show you a polish I have been lemming hard core ever since I've known about it.  Illamasqua Raindrops.  For those of you who don't know, Raindrops was inspired by my beloved city of Seattle.  I had to have it.

Funny thing about us Seattle-lites / Washingtonians.  We complain about the weather..... A LOT!  The kinds of weather we complain about?  When it's raining, when it hasn't rained, when it's cold, when it's too hot.....we complain about it.  The only times we don't complain?  When it's a nice warm spring day, or a cool/chilly fall day.  We have the most amazing seasons in Washington.

I happen to love our weather here, and don't feel like it rains *that* much.  But then again, I was born and raised here, so I don't know any different.

I have a lot of pride for my hometown and feel if you ever get the chance to visit, do it!  It's really an awesome, awesome city!

Anyways, Raindrops!  The base is a dusty blue/gray.  Honestly I would have made it a little more gray, but think it's pretty close to what Seattle looks like on a rainy day.  I love the blue shimmer and the clear/white glass flecks.  Perfect!

I'm pretty sure this was an easy 2 coats, but I have the sinking feeling it might have been 3 coats.  Ether way, the formula was great.

We have actually been super lucky here in Seattle, as our weather has been *perfect*!  Two weeks ago we had rain and thunder showers!

I would love to know if any of you have visited Seattle (or are from here, HOLLA!), and if so, what's your favorite part?

  1. Some of my family is from Washington state, I haven't been there in too many years but the PNW is beautiful! I'm from Kansas City and people say " if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute" cause it can go from 80 to 50 in the same day ! Btw did you get pink raindrops? :)

  2. Gorgeous polish! I've always been interested in this one too. I've actually been to Seattle once before. I'm born and raised in California but I lived in Oregon when I was 12, for about a year and a half and my family and I drove to Seattle for a little weekend getaway. I don't remember much since it was a long time ago, but I vaguely remember us going to an aquarium. The weather was also pretty gloomy and rainy. I'd love the chance to go back one day though!

  3. You are so right, this is what Seattle looks like on a rainy day! I've been to Seattle for a visit, but I'm living in Spokane. Have you been to Spokane?

  4. In my town we use to complain about everything, so...I know the feeling! I didn't know this polish was inspired by Seattle...but I can imagine how great this city should be, if this polish is such a gorgeous one!

  5. This is one of my most longed for polishes. I need it in my life!

I live in Oregon so I come to Seattle often. My best friend lives in Ballard so I spend most of my time there.

I love the rain, don't mind the grey and gloom, I just hate the cold! However, there is nothing as glorious as Oregon and Washington in the summer. I pretty much live for that.

  6. Our weather changes quite quickly too, but not quite like that! That's crazy!

  7. Yeah, it's pretty gloomy and rainy a lot of the time, but a lot of us natives actually enjoy that kind of weather. It's perfect reading weather for me. : )

  8. You know, I've never actually stopped in Spokane, just drove through on my way to Idaho. Like Canada, Spokane is exotic to me, lol!!

  11. I live in Bremerton! This really is the perfect Washington polish, but it definitely needs to be greyer to truly capture the skies!

I was looking at the "Washington" tag on Tumblr and someone was like, "I'm moving to Seattle! Can't wait to experience seasons!" And I was just like, "We don't have seasons. We have raining, still raining, yup still raining, and not raining."

Another thing we love to complain about is going anywhere else and not having 10 coffee places in a 5-mile radius.

(My one beef with Seattle is everyone I never want to see again in my life lives there. Also it takes forever to get anywhere.)
