Monday, January 30, 2012's my face!

Hiya!  I figure I might as well get off my lazy ass, stop eating these Hershey Kisses, and get up and run some errands today.  But before that, I wanted to post this look I'm wearing today.

Funny story first....or at least it was pretty funny to my guy and I.  As some of you know, I have an old dog named Harvey.  He will be 12 in April.  I've been having a hard time with him getting older, and to prove that, I've done over $1000 in test this last year just to tell me, yes Angie, he is just getting old.  Besides having the beginnings of laryngeal paralysis, and some arthritis, he is perfectly fine.  My guy will laugh at me, cause I will literally break into tears at odd moments because I will miss my dog so much when he's gone.

Anywhoo, last night at around 8:00, my dog was laying in his bed, staring at me.  My bf was on sitting on his other side.  Well my bf started calling Harvey's name, Harvey being very attentive, will always come to his name, show some kind of reaction to his name.  Well at this time, he didn't.  He didn't even wag his tail in acknowledgement.  My bf says to me "uh, I think your dog is going deaf", and continues to call his name.  Now here I am, staring at my dog with his "duh....." look on his face (you lab owners know that goofy look they have), and I start crying.  Yay, just another symptom of having an old dog.

Then it clicks in my mind.  Maybe he's hungry?  My dog knows maybe 5 words in his vocabulary (actually, he's quite smart, I'm sure he knows more), and his favorites are hungry? dinner? or walk?  Well, I happen to be the one that feeds him, and well, sometimes I forget.  So I told my bf to whisper the word hungry to him....sure enough, my dog gives him tail wag and FINALLY looks at him.  We both busted up laughing.  Soon enough my tears of sadness, turn in to tears from laughing too much.  This continues on for another 10 minutes of my boyfriend saying Harvey's name over, and over again, and throwing in a hungry or dinner every once in a while.  And sure enough, my dog hears it loud and clear.  My bf looks at me and says "so I guess he's not deaf, and just ignoring me", lol!!  I think this is a case of you had to be there....but still, thought it was funny!  I love my dog!

So I know this palette is old news, but I JUST found it the other day.

Why yes, that is a dog hair in the corner....I guess it seems only appropriate....

I used all the colors on the right hand side.

And I have to say I LOVE this little palette!  All the colors were very easy to work with, and for being matte's, I didn't have any fallout, and all the colors were very pigmented.  I don't typically use white shadow as it's very patchy, and doesn't show up on my skin anyway, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well it did on my browbone.

I know this makeup isn't too terribly exciting, but I like how my pictures actually turned out today so why not post? you guys see the lines and wrinkles under my eyes??  AHH!!!  I've probably said it before, but I forever feel like I should be 19.....but I have to face the facts and remember I'm turning the big 3-0 this year!  Aww jeez!

Well I hope you guys liked my story, we were laughing so hard last night, my stomach hurt!  Any of you guys have older dogs?

Oh dear! Another top favorite...

Hi folks!  I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.  And thanks for all the nice guys are the best!

So I was in Walgreens the other day picking up some Valentines Day candy (yeah, so hows that diet doing for ya Angie?  lol) and I ran across the new Go Overboard collection from Essie.  This color screamed at me "hi Angie, take me home" so I did.  Even though I have said in earlier post I wasn't buying these drug store Essie's cause I hate the sticker they have on the front and on the cap.

This is Essie's Play Date.  My camera did not want to capture the loveliness that is this polish.  It's a red toned lilac creme/jelly.  It applied like a creme, but was crazy shiny like a jelly.

Sorry for the craptastic photos....had to take them in my car....

To extend this mani another day, I applied a coat of Orly's Twilight.  While looking at this, I realized this looks really similar to China Glaze No Way Jose that I posted here (look at your own risk, I think my picture taking skills have come a far way from where they were).  I find it funny I was just meh about the CG then, lol!  Cause this baby has skyrocketed it to the top of my favorite list.  I adore this color, and can't wait to wear it again....I wan to take it off just so I can apply it again, lol!  And I think this would look fabulous on my toes!

And as always, this color reminds me of something Ivana would wear, and I think it would look so flippin gorgeous on her!

Random thought of the day:  I think I would hate being a cat, here I am, all nice and curled up on your lap, in full kitty coma mode, and you have the sudden urge to get up to go to the bathroom, and dump me on the floor.  Anybody ever notice how up and awake they are after doing that?  Or is that just mine?  Yeah, I'm pretty sure I would hate being a cat, lol!

Change is good right?

So I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, and I think it's time for a change.  With my blog....with my life, kinda the whole package.  I started this blog just for fun, but at times I feel so obligated to put posts up, I'm finding I'm just putting up meaningless crap.

So from this point forward I'm putting more though in everything I do, in my life, as well as my blog.  Hey, I'm almost 30, I can't live my life just getting by right?  I've always been a glass is half empty kinda person (just ask my friends, that's totally how I am!), well I'm going to stop that today!  I AM going to lose 15 pounds before Summer, I WILL find a new job that I absolutely love, I WILL put more effort into my relationship (and other people as well), and I WILL stop thinking so negatively.

So the real reason for telling you all this is I will most likely have pretty sporadic posts, but what I do post will be something I'm excited about.  I might not be as active in the blogging community as well, I've found that my life has just been taken over by it, that I really need to cut back.  I hope you all understand!!

Yay for Sunday!!

I was finally able to sleep in today.  After my weird sleeping schedule of taking a short nap at 8, only to wake up at 11pm to drive my bf to work, I finally had a day to sleep in.  And what time did I sleep in till?  8am, lol!  Yeah, that's late for me.

My bf is in the public works department of a local city in our area so when it dumped all this snow on us earlier this week, he was the lucky one that got to work the graveyard shift driving the plow/sander truck.  Well he does not have 4wheel drive, so I was the lucky one that got to drive him to work.  Ahh, the things you do for love! I'm wearing something not all that exciting, but I quite liked it this time around.  This is OPI's Mermaid Tears from the Pirates collection last year.  I was so excited for this color when it came out last year, but was really disappointed when I put it on.  I just wasn't crazy for it (like my unexpected favorite Stranger Tides).  But this time around I quite like the way it looks.  BUT, it gives me a terrible case of lobster hands, but whateves.  It also had a very strange formula, that required 3 coats for what you see here.

For those of you that own this, you know these are not color accurate pics.  My camera is super sucking at the moment, as you can tell by my craptastic pictures, and blurriness.  I don't think it likes the natural overcast Washington light out there right now.  Anyways, this is a much brighter, almost sea foam green.  I think this would look fab with some gold glitter, and I was going to do that, but then I became way too lazy, lol!  Oh, and would you look at my cuticles?  Such a mess, that's what happens when you play out in the snow with no gloves on!  Shame on me!!

I hope everyone has a fantastic Sunday.  And I wanted to thank all you guys that read my blog.  It means a lot to know that you read what I have to say.  I know I've been guilty of not reading content, and just commenting on pictures alone, but then I sort of feel like an assbag when I realize I did that.  I use my blog as sort of a diary of different events in my life and to know that you guys actually read it, means a lot ot me!!  Thanks guys!

Ahh.....a hidden gem!!

Its me again!  I just got home from my parents house where we (mainly my dad and I) went sledding with sleds from my childhood....we had a blast!

Here's me making a snow angel.....and if you ever wanted to see how I look without a stitch of makeup, well your wish is my command! lol!

And for those of you wishing to see my ass you are!!  There is a tramp stamp there too, I guarantee it!

Anyways, I wanted to show you this hidden gem in my collection.  I've had this polish FOREVER, and apparently loved it at one time since a fifth of the bottle is gone....but I haven't worn it in YEARS.  This beauty is Sally Hansen's Nail Prisms in Turquoise Opal.  Anyone remember when this came out?

It's so crazy multichrome....lemme show you!  Purple-y/turquoise-y/green.

Brighter fuschia/purple

And golden/pinky.

And emerald green!  Whew!!

I wore some underwear under this since this formula is super sheer (but all you need is one coat over a darker coat for what you see here!).  I wore Zoya Ibiza.  A lovely navy, it has brighter shimmer in the bottle, that didn't come off on the nail.  BUT, what I'm showing you (and yes, this was pre-cleanup, see, I'm NOT always so perfect, lol!) is only one coat which is nice when your wearing it as underwear.

Well I hope you guys enjoyed this post post down memory lane!

Snow storm 2012! Finally!

Hello there!  So we made it to our show last night, and Dallas Green killed it!  He is even more amazing live then on his record, if that could even be possible!  He is such an amazing artist....and his music has gotten me through some really tough times in my life.  I'm so glad I was able to make it!

Anyways, the big snow storm finally hit.  Must have been sometime after I went to bed at 1:00.  My poor boyfriend had to work a graveyard shift (and after the show no less!), so I had to drop him off at work before coming home.  And I woke up to this, what you see below.  Actually now that I look at the picture, it looks pretty underwhelming, but trust me when I say it's about 8 inches (that's what she said....zing!).  We don't usually get this much in the Seattle area, so it's super fun when we do!  I think I'm going to go out later to my parents house with the dog and sled down their was where all the kids in the neighborhood would come to sled.  Ahh, to be a kid again!

Anyways, as I'm sitting here scrubbing off the glitter from yesterdays mani (why, oh why didn't I use the foil method?!?), I will show you this beaut from Zoya.

Ahh, Zoya Nimue.  Is that really a name....anybody else meet a Nimue?  Really, they came up with a Nimune, and STILL don't have an Angie?!?  Common Zoya.....make an awesome polish with my name!

Now, yall know how much I love my Zoya, but I must have gotten a bad bottle of Nimue. The brush was wonky, and the formula wasn't the perfect formula I've come to expect from Zoya. The application was quite patchy. I know you can't tell from the pics, but there were some bald spots even after 2 coats. It was by no means terrible, but worth noting. Out of all the Zoya's I own, I think this is the first that gave me some trouble.

Now as far as the color goes, I love it! It's a color that I would consider "mature", and what I mean by that is its a fun color that I could see a grandma wearing. Lol....since I'm heading in that direction, I think it's perfect for me!  Since I'm not quite grandma age (though my bf likes to call me for inside jokes!), I added some fun glitter as an accent.  It's WnW's It's All in the Cut.  I don't know why I haven't worn it sooner, cause it's really something.  Small micro lilac glitter with large pink hex glitter.  Super fun, and I think it compliments Nimune very well!

Can I make a little gripe about blogger?  They recently added a little reply button to comment which I was so excited about!  I was having a hard time trying to figure out how to add my Disqus profile to my blog (uh....still can't figure it out!), and this feature came just in time. BUT, when you reply to someone....they still don't know about it!  I like with disqus that you get an email with the reply, cause I like reading reply posts, and I don't expect anyone to come back to my blog to see if *I've* replied to them.  So common Blogger....send an email when the blogger has replied to a blog post....or at least something!  End rant!

Zoya Tallulah featuring WnW Cost Is No Issue

Howdy!  Today I'm wearing this awesome mani.

Tallulah is one of those colors I always forget I want from Zoya, well I finally got it with Zoya's latest promo of two free bottles, just pay shipping.  Dude I love Zoya!

Anyways, Tallulah is gorgeous! I don't have anything like this in my collection. It's blue with gorgeous teal shimmer. It has a purple flash in the bottle, that unfortunately doesn't show up on my nails

I did a reverse gradient using Wet N Wild's Cost Is No Issue. I LOVE these WnW glitters! They are so awesome....I think I've worn this color before....lemme see...ah yes, I did an accent nail seen here. Anywhoo, I think this combo complimented each other very well!  Kinda reminds me of mermaid nails.

I took a bajillion pictures of this mani....and these two are the best I could get.  I think it has to do with the cloudy/dark snowy day we have out right now.  It makes me sad though cause this is stunning in real life....if I do say so myself!  I will have to try it again when I know we are going to have nice weather so I can take decent pics of it!

So watching the news now....I think we are going to miss the big snow tonight!  OMGF!!  That means I get to watch my fantasy BF Dallas Green play tonight!  Anybody out there City and Colour fans?

Orly - Fowl Play, Mattified!

Good evening!  Hope everyone is having a fabulous start to their week.  We are having some crazy snow up here in Washington.  Apparently we are in for the snow storm of the decade or something.  Which would be ok since I have the next 2 days off, except I have the next two days off because I was planning to see my favorite artist EVER tomorrow!  I've been in love with Dallas Green AKA City And Colour for 5 years now....and I've been waiting for him to come to Seattle for FIVE YEARS now!  I told my guy we are going no matter what!!  Thankfully I drive a 4x4 with manual transmission....makes driving in the snow much easier!

Anyways, I forgot I had this post up and ready to go...this was obviously a couple week ago, when my nails weren't nubbins, lol!

I've showed you guys this beauty before seen here, but here it is with a matte coat on top.  I love it! It sort of freezes the effects of the flakies in the polish

Please cross your fingers for me that they don't cancel the show tomorrow!  I don't think I could handle it! lol!  While I would love to play in the 7-14 inches they are predicting over the next couple of days.....I want it to hold off long enough for me to go tomorrow!!

Do not adjust your computer monitors.....

Yup....I had a pretty bad break.  My index finger nail split right down the middle, and I had to cut off basically my whole free edge.  Darn!  BUT, what that means is I can wear dark, dark colors!  I wore OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark the other day and I have to say it looked hot!

So I'm going to spam you with some nail pics....I've gotten behind again!

My favorite China Glaze, Little Drummer Boy from the Winter collection of 10'.  It's a nice shimmery dark navy.  I topped it with Finger Paints Motley which is a blue and green flakie.  It reminds me of blue poison dart frogs!

Zoya's Dita.  It's much more raspberry in real life.

Nice and glossy!

And pre-break, obviously!  Finger Paints Warm He-art-ed.  A lovely taupe with copper shimmer.

A holo gradient which looked better from far away!  I used Nicole by OPI's Nic's Sticks in Rainbow's End as the base, and sponged on OPI DS Original on the tips.

OPI's Bubble Bath.  This didn't work well with my skin tone.  It was a bit too pink for my liking.

Zoya Noel with Essie's Shine of the Times on top.

It was very meh...

And lastly is China Glaze High Hopes, a really bright orangy coral.  My camera freaked out with this one, this was the only decent picture I got, the rest were blurry.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  And thanks for reading!

Review - Maybelline Color Tattoo by Eyestudio 24 hour eyeshadow

Hola!  Today I have a review of something I'm really excited about!  Everybody has been talking about these Color Tattoo creme shadows from Maybelline.  I got a couple last week at my local Ulta, but they were pretty cleaned out.  Then I was able to snag a couple at Fred Meyer because they had a full display.  The one I was most excited for was Tough as Taupe (you know me and my neutral looks!)

These are the tops clockwise: Too Cool, Tough as Taupe, Tenacious Teal and Edgy Emerald.

The bottoms.  These are in nice heavy glass pots similar to Mac Paint Pots.

I'm sorry my camera doesn't like picking up makeup colors!!

And that I really suck at swatches.

Now I have to say I love 2 of these, one I think I will like, and the other I'm still totally on the fence about.

Tough as Taupe is awesome!  I find I could blend this to make it totally wearable on it's own, instead of under eyeshadow as a base.  It's very easy to blend, and doesn't "skip" when applying.

Edgy Emerald is lovely as well.  It actually has a smoother formula than Tough as Taupe, and I can't wait to wear it!

Tenacious Teal has small particles of glitter in it, which I don't mind, but the formula isn't as nice as the first two.

And Too Cool is the one I'm disappointed in.  The formula is a bit chalky but it's shimmery at the same time.  It doesn't really want to show up on my skin at all.  I've worn it a couple times as a base, and I found that it didn't enhance the look at all.

I did a look today using my Smashbox palette (again!) and I used Tough as Taupe as a base.

Excuse my messy brows!  Ugg I hate them!

All in all, I really like these!  I wanna go back and get the purple and the smokey black.  One thing I have to say about these is they LAST!  I had swatched them last night, tried to wash them off, but they wouldn't come of, slept with it on, tried to wash it again from my arm in the shower, and they STILL didn't budge!  Even with soap!  Water also beaded off of them, so apparently they are waterproof too.  I hope they come out with a wider range of colors!  Like a light fawn color, that would be my holy grail color right there!

Anybody else pick these up?  I know Sonja from The Beautiful Life of the Girl Next Door has, see her review here.

Orly's Galaxy Girl

Good evening!  Last post today, I promise!  It's so hard to find time to blog, and that's why I usually do on my days off....and why I post so many of them!

I've spent a couple hours of my day today reading, has anyone else read The Alter of Bones by Phillip Carter?  I can't put the damn book down!  I just spent 2 hours in the bath tub, freezing my ass off at the end there cause I didn't want to get out!  It's that good!  If your a fan of Dan Brown's DaVinci Code books, you will LOVE this one!  Totally fast paced!  I'm only 5 days into it and already half way through, and it's a pretty good size book....and I'm not the fastest of readers ether.  Ugg....I can't put it down!

Anywhoo, here are my nails today.  This is a color my BF picked up in my epic Christmas haul.  It's from the Orly Cosmic FX collection from fall of 10' which I am still finding at my Ulta, even though I'm pretty sure it was a limited edition. Like I said earlier, my bf did good at Christmas.  He actually got me 4 polishes which I didn't own, which is quite a feat considering the size of my collection!

And what a stunner Galaxy Girl is!  Like Space Cadet I had to use 3 coats, and it was still a bit patchy.  I also found that the color chips super easy, as you can see by my naked tips (where I had wrapped the tips the night before).

The base is a plum-y purple with teal shimmer.  And at certain angles the shimmer turns pink.  I kept shoving my fingers in my guys face to make him watch the color shift....I think he thinks I'm weird.....actually, I'm pretty sure he already knew that!

EOTD inspired boyfriend?? Smashbox review

Hello again! Hope I didn't scare anyone away with my crazy long post!  I don't like doing reviews as I feel I talk way too much!  Anyways, I have another one for you now!

I've talked about this palette in previous posts.  I absolutely can't get enough of it!  BF did good when he got this for me for Christmas!  I haven't used anything but this since then, it's that good!  I think this has also surpassed my UD Naked Palette......and that's saying a lot!

This is the Smashbox Be Discovered Holiday Palette.  Since it's a holiday palette, I don't know if these are still available.  My bf got it at Ulta for $60.

There are 45 shadows, 3 blushes, 2 highlighters and a bronzer on the first layer.  The best thing about this palette is all the neutral colors it comes with!  So many different browns!  A girl like me who loves my neutrals went crazy when I opened it!  And they range anywhere from matte, to shimmery (and no glitter!!).

AND, the shadows are totally easy to work with.  I have another Smashbox palette like this from maybe.....2 years ago, that has something like 60 shadows, and it literally sits in my closet, I hated that thing, the shadows sucked!

Also included are 9 gel liners and 6 lipglosses.  Also comes with 4 travel brushes.

One thing I don't like about palettes like this?  I hate when they include lipgloss.  I never use it, I mean really, do they expect me to tote this thing around with me when I need to re-apply it?  Yeah, stupid.  One thing nice about this palette in regards to the lipgloss, is that it's kept separate from the eyeshadow.  Have you ever tried to apply these lips products when they have shadow all mixed in with them?  Yeah, not pretty.

I am also impressed with the tiny brushes they included.  They really are nice quality, and up to standards with the full sized Smashbox brushes (of which I have quite a few).

I am though, disappointed in that purple eyeliner you see 4th from the left.  I have yet to find a BRIGHT purple gel eyeliner that doesn't turn darker when applied.  I had hoped maybe this would be the one, but alas, it is not.

Also a nice thing they thought about with this palette, is that you can open the bottom drawer without flipping open the lid.  It's also nice an secure so it's not going to slide out on it's own.

I wish my camera was better so you could see all these gorgeous shadows!

Downfall to this palette, is it is very large.  See my hand for comparison (sorry about the fingerprints, it's obviously not that obvious when your not flashing the shit out of it!).

The one thing I still like my Naked palette for is the fact that it is totally easy to travel with.  I don't want to tote this around when I'm going somewhere for a few nights.

Now on to the makeups! When I was getting ready yesterday am (ok, who am I kidding....yesterday in the afternoon, I told you guys I had a lazy day!), my bf saw me pull out this palette. He's so super cute, he gets all excited that I'm using something he bought for me. So I asked him what colors he thought I should wear. And he pointed at the green in the lower right hand corner and the blue 5th over from the right on the top row. I looked at the colors and thought I would have a difficult time with them, but alas, I think I got them to work. The interesting thing is, that when I started to apply the royal blue, it actually turned this gorgeous shade of purple! Not wanting to take away from the blue, I added the dark navy blue to darken the crease.

I haven't worn color for so long!  The colors kinda remind me of Mardi Gras.

I'm so glad I have this palette, as I have totally fallen in love with it!  After the craptastic palette I got a couple years ago, I had kinda lost faith in Smashbox!
