OPI DS Sapphire

Hello again!  I figured I might as well post this as I've had this ready to post for about a month now.

This is OPI DS Sapphire.  A lovely baby blue holographic.  For whatever reason, I wore this on a day that was very gloomy and rainy, so I didn't get much of a holo effect.  It also has a slight pink tint to it which you can kinda see.

With flash so you can see the holo.

Anyone have any fun New Years plans?  My guy and I never do anything big.  We are very last minute too.  He asked me this morning what I wanted to do for tomorrow.  He decided we are going for a nice dinner, though I don't know what that means.  I asked him and he just shrugged his shoulders and said "I dunno?".  Every year I say I want to go to the Space Needle and watch the firework show they have every year, and every year we never go......ahh....maybe next year!

January Julep Maven Box - Boho Glam

Good Morning ladies!  I feel like I have so neglected blogging lately.  I haven't read anyone's blogs, and it makes me feel so out of touch with the community!  lol!  Anyways, my January Julep Maven Box showed up yesterday, woo hoo!  I love that I live 20 minutes from this company, and I get my box the next day after it ships.  In my Boho Glam box includes 2 polishes in Heather and Blake and a Pomegranate Body Scrub.  My box also had Julep's Nail Therapy as well, must be a freebie thrown in, as it's not mentioned at all.  They also sent along a Julep Polish Remover Pad.  I LOVE polish remover pads, and always have some in my purse, so this is a nice extra. (Tip, these are also GREAT for taking off glitter polishes, as the felt adds a little more texture to removing the polish)

I'm wearing Heather as seen below.  The color is described as a "chic platinum greige with a metallic glow".  Blake is described as a "sunny butter yellow creme".  I love yellow cremes, so I'm excited to try this one.  Now the body scrub stinks.  It's a very generic scent, I'm glad I skipped the body lotion in the last box.  It's also a pretty tiny jar for a scrub.  I find I use a lot of scrub in the shower, and this might last 2 *maybe* 3 showers.  But I LOVE body scrubs, so I will definitely use it, and like it in that sense.

Here is Heather.  Well hello there pinky nail!  Anybody else have nails that grow twice as fast as the rest?  Mine are my pinky and my ring finger, but for today, my pinky has taken over! lol!

This color has me confused.  I'm not sure if I love it, or just like it.  I definitely like it, but I think I almost love it as well.  I like it as a neutral, as it's a tad boring.  It's also a wee bit frosty as I know a lot of ladies hate, though adding a topcoat helped with the frostiness and brush strokes.

If anyone is interested in signing up, here is my Julep referal link.  If you sign up, let me know, I would love to thank you!

Holy effin Christmas!! And the most awesome nail polish I have ever worn!

I know right....big title huh?  Hope everyone had a magnificent Christmas!  Mine was fun and laid back.  My new saying now is "it's not Christmas if mom doesn't pee her pants".  Yup, true story!  My little brother and my bf have a very weird relationship with each other.  I think what it is, they always want to have the last laugh, so they are constantly trying to top each other.  Anyways, yup, they made my mom pee her pants, which unfortunately isn't hard to do, lol!

Anyways, my guy and I opened our presents on Christmas Eve, which was probably a good thing, since he got me so much, and it would have taken forever Christmas morning.  Now, for the last 10 years, I've always gotten expensive presents from my bf (that I might not always want or need), he's Mr-last-minute-shopper, but this year he did good.  He did lots of online shopping, and BEFORE Christmas Eve.  But what blew me away, is the picture you see below.  My bf has never bought me makeup, or nail polish before.  So I nearly flipped my lid when I opened up all the goodies below!

The poor guy got had at Ulta.  They just took advantage of poor guy that knows nothing of makeup or nail polish.  He went in there and said "My girlfriend does this with her makeup" as he swiped his finger along his lash line.....I don't think they knew what he was talking about, lol.  He also told them when I do my nails, that I "pull out a big bottle of stuff, and wipes her fingernails with it"......he was talking about my cleanup process....lol!

So needless to say, I'm going back today to return almost half of the stuff.  He got me the whole gel nail system they have at Ulta, cause he thought I would like it.  I had to explain to him what it was, and the fact that I LIKE to paint my nails everyday, and I would get bored wearing the same polish for more than a day!

They also made the guy buy a $28 dual ended brush that I totally don't need (and I hate dual ended brushes).  I think when he was doing the swiping motion on his eye, they took that as I wore smokey eyes....instead of how I did my eyeliner, so he ended up with this almost 30 dollar smokey eye brush that I don't need.....I feel so guilty that he went in there and spend almost $400 on this stuff....especially since I had a 20% entire purchase coupon!

Anyways, he did pretty good, cause I LOVE the Smashbox palette he got.  It's got a nice blend of neutral shadows with some funky ones thrown in.  Just how I like it!

Now this is the polish that I said was the most awesome polish I have ever worn.  And it did not want to come out in pics.  The brand is I *think* Cherimoya, I got it at a Fuego store (are those stores everywhere?).  The color is called Mystery, and it totally fits this color.  This color totally reminds me of something Ivana would wear.  And the crazy thing is, it would totally change colors depending on the light.  Not at all like a duochrome polish, but it would completely change.  There were times when it was a dark berry red, to the sort of magenta color you see above, to a burgundy.....it was CRAZY!  And there was no way I was getting color accurate pics of it.

Funny thing is, this color totally matches my phone cover (seen here), but my phone cover totally changed colors when I went to take a picture of it.  (ugg....ignore the shrinkage at the cuticles....and the dry, nasty cuticles as well!)

Indoor lighting

With flash.

Now....lets talk about the formula.  Now for whatever stupid reason, I wasn't expecting this to dry so fast....nor be matte, even though it ways right on the bottle that it was matte.  The formula on this is so incredibly thick, it's almost impossible to work with.  And the bottle will dry up as you are putting the polish on.  I literally got this polish all over the place.  I'm quite good at not polishing my cuticles of the sides of my nails, but not so with this one.  It did cover in one coat, but I added two to even it out.  Now the really bad part of this polish, it was an effing bitch to clean up.  My cuticles were stained pink.....I knew it was going to be bad news to remove as well, so I did the foil method for easy removal.  But it did stain the undersides of my nails where I hadn't put base coat, and wrapped my tips.  Ugg....and the smell?  I've never smelled anything quite like this polish.

BUT!!  I do think this polish is totally worth it (though, not at all if you wear it matte, add a top coat to this shit!, you will be amazed!).  Will I wear this polish again?  Yes!  Will I bitch and complain as I'm applying it?  Yes sir!  Will I stare at my nails all day while this is on?  Sure thing!  Will I get high on the fumes coming from my nails?  Yes I will....maybe it will make application easier!

In short, yup....I love it!

And I leave you with my "ugly Christmas sweater" picture.  Mine actually said Merry Christmas accross the front....though you can't see it.  The guys said Ho Ho Ho....lol!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Anybody get awesome loot??

Review - Lush's Buche de Noel

So today I'm going to review one of my favorite products ever!  I've been a big Lushie for 2 years.  Though I'm not as crazy about them as I was.  There was a point where I had to try EVERYTHING.  Just not budget friendly!  I now stick with products I love, and try to stay away from the bath products (as I am still going through a huge stash of bath bombs, bubble bars and soap!).

This product came out last Christmas, and it's called Buche de Noel.  The description on the label is as follows: A delicious smelling, tremendously nourishing facial scrub.  Take a pea size amount, mix with water, then massage all over your face.  Rinse of for perfectly soft winter skin.

I wish they would make this product a year round product cause my skin loves it.  When this came out last year I had only bought 2 pots of it....so sad!  So this year I have stocked up, and have 4 pots.  Because Lush uses fresh ingredients, they have a short expiration date, so they mark their bulk facial cleansers for a three month expiry date.  Because of this, I have the other 3 pots in my freezer, I've heard people  haven't had problems freezing these products, so we will see!

So the products comes in a 100g pot.  These pots usually last me between 2 months.  These bulk cleansers use to come in a log, and the sales associates would cut off however much you wanted and package it up for you, so you could get however much you wanted.  I don't know if they still do this with their other bulk cleansers as I try not to spend too much time in the store, and I didn't notice when I was in last.

I know your saying to yourself "that's a facial cleanser?", I know I did when I first started using Lush products.  One of Lush's gimmicks is naked products.  They try to use as little packaging as possible.  A lot of their products are "naked", like bath bomb, bubble bars, soaps, shampoo bars, etc.  They strive to make their products solid without using a lot of preservatives (thus the short expiry dates).  This is one of those products.

This cleanser comes wrapped in seaweed honestly, I don't see the point of it, except since the product comes in logs, when they slice it, it helps to keep it together.  This cleanser has ground almonds (that give a lovely, gentle scrub), kaolin, glycerin, fresh satsumas, dried cranberries, cocoa butter (I know a lot of people can't use products on their face with this ingredient, so look out!), brandy, almond essential oil, vetivert oil, cedarwood oil, linalool (don't know what that is....), cinnamal (don't know about that one ether), perfume and nori seaweed.

One thing to mention is a lot of people think of Lush as natural.  Please don't think that, Lush doesn't marked themselves that way, and a lot of people get upset when they find out they aren't.  Lush markets themselves as a handmade, fresh ingredients cosmetic company.

What you do with this product is pinch off a pea sized amount (I promise this is a pea sized amount, I have small hands!), add a few drops of water, rub your palms together to make a thin scrubby paste, then rub it all over your face.  I love the way this feels on my skin, as it gives a very gentle scrub, that I scrub it around for a minute before rinsing off.  And when you rinse it off, you can instantly feel how soft your face is.  This product has honestly changed my skin for the better.  As I mentioned, I haven't used Lush skincare for a while (I also use their Angels on Bare Skin cleanser), so my face was looking a little dull.  This stuff leave my skin so bright, soft and moisturized.  And not to mention it smells good enough to eat!  I should mention I have dry skin, with patches of oily-ness.

Some cons to this product are: It's best used in the shower, as it's messy to use.  You always want to make sure your hands are dry when pinching off some to use, as you don't want to add water to your sealed jar or it will go bad.  Not everybody has access to a Lush, so you may have to order this online.  This might not be a good product for someone with oily skin.

I find a lot of Lush products are expensive for what you get (thus why my obsession with Lush has wained a lot in the last year), but I find this one totally worth it.  It's $12.99 for a 100g pot that lasts about 2 months.  I don't think that's that bad, especially for me, since it does wonders for my skin.

I'm sorry if this post is all over the place....I tried to fix it, but I found I would talk about something, the go off about something else....sorry!  It's my first Lush post, so I wanted to get some of the info out there for those of you not familiar with their products.  I hope to get more Lush review out there since I have tried all of their products, meaning tried their soaps, bath bombs, shampoo's and conditioners, lotions, facial moisturizers, face masks...etc!

Any of you guys out there Lush fans?  What are your favorite products?

Boring Christmas mani

Evening lovelies!  I'm home alone tonight, as my bf is off getting a sleep test done.  I thought it would be a good time to get some posts lined up, as I've been getting in trouble for spending too much time on the computer....oops!  Blogging is just so much fun sometimes, I don't realize how much time I spend on the computer!

Anyways, this is my mani I wore today.  Totally simple Christmas colors mani.  The green is Orly's Meet Me Under the Mistletoe, and the red is China Glaze's Ruby Pumps (yes I know, I just wore this for my guest post, but I couldn't help it!).  Now my only gripe with this, is I felt the red wasn't a deep enough red to go with the green, but that's just my anal personality coming out!  I do have to say, both polishes were pretty sheer and could have done with a third coat.

If anybody here actually reads my blog, you may know I don't like green polishes.  Well actually I should rephrase that, I don't like green polishes on me.  They just don't go well with my skin tone.  I've been waffling on this Orly color for a while.  I see it on blogs and always say what a gorgeous green it is, but I didn't think I would like it on me.  I do have to say, it did go quite well with my skin tone.  So yay for finding a green that works for me!

These pics where taken at work, ugg, I love the lighting at work!

Two EOTD looks

Good morning!  Is everyone ready for Christmas yet?  I feel like I have so much to do, and no time to do it! I can see why people ask for lots of time off before Christmas!  Me?  I have to work overtime, and Christmas Eve....oh and the day after Christmas...true story!  Ugg, oh well!

Anyways, I have two makeup posts today, both using my beloved UD Naked Palette.

This first look I wore yesterday, and I wanted something smokey, and glittery.  So I used the glitter eyeshadow I talked about in this post.  The glitter just didn't want to show up on camera, but it was there, and it was glittery!

This is a look I think I might actually wear for New Years....though I'm not sure if we have plans yet!  If I do wear this, I think I will make it a little more smokier, and add MORE glitter!

Here's a blurry glitter shot.

Now this look I've been wearing often.  It's my go-to no makeup look.  I only use 2 eye shadows for this, Naked all over the lid and Buck in the crease.  I lied, I actually used Virgin in the corners of my eyes, and I also used UD Foxy on my brow bone to blend.

It's so boring, yet I love it!

When I say it's my go-to no makeup look, I do actually wear it like this without the eyeliner, and just mascara.  I love the way it looks, it kinda evens out the skin tone on my eyelids, and gives it just a bit definition with the slight darker crease.

So I hope you all have a wonderful day, and get your Christmas shopping done!!  Anyone know where I drop off toys for Toys For The Tots?  I have no idea....but I should probably get on that!

OMFG!! My first guest post!

So....I'm so freaking excited today!  First, I my nails showed up on the front page of Beautylish (you will have to scroll back a couple days) on Saturday!  When they asked me last week if they could feature one of my pictures I said hell to the yeah!!  I mean really?  Little ol' me?

Then yesterday morning Ivana from Ivana Thinks Pink asked me if I would be interested in doing a guest post.  Um, really?  Are you sure you have the right nail blogger?  It's so incredibly flattering, seeing as she is one of my favorite nail blogs, AND she has the loveliest nails ever it blows me away!

Thanks again Ivana for letting me be part of your blog!  It means so much to me!  And helping me find my favorite manicure ever!

I feel as happy as my dog looks in this pic!

Some winter-y stamping.

So wow....a week till Christmas!  Crazy shiz!  I am not at all done with Christmas shopping.  I tried going to Cost Plus World Market yesterday after work, and it was in-freaking-sane!  The line literally snaked all the way around the store....there was not freaking way I was standing in that line to buy my, handful of items....I dropped my basket off in a dark corner of the store and walked out.  I'm going to try again first this tomorrow am, we will see how it goes!

Anyways, I wore this look the other day, and I was kinda sad I stamped over the gorgeousness that is China Glaze Skyscraper.  It's such an awesome blue glitter, but totally not in your face glitter.  It's a totally work safe glitter for me, and I will have to wear it again soon.

You all might know, but I suck at stamping.  This stamping effort actually looks decent though.  I wish I had different snowflake stamps though, I think that would have looked cool!

A lovely blurry pic of my thumb.

On a positive Christmas note, I finally got my "ugly Christmas sweater".  It's not actually a sweater, since for some reason I couldn't find one ANYWHERE!  It's more of a long sleeve red turtleneck with a Christmas tree embroidered in the collar.  My bf got a matching one....and what we're going to do is just add crap to it to make it totally tacky.  This should be interesting!
I hope it turns out awesome....wish us luck!!

China Glaze Ulta Exclusive - Ultamate Holiday

Good evening all!  Quick post tonight as I'm leaving the house in about t minus 5 minutes to go out with the girls!    I apologize now for the pics below, as I didn't have my camera on BOTH instances, and had to use my cell camera to catch these pics.

This is another Ulta exclusive China Glaze called Ultamate Holiday.  It's a beaut.  It's actually a linear holo in the bottle, you can kinda see it up there, but it's not so on the nail.  But it still is super blingy and sparkly.  I urge you to snatch is up while you can!

I wore the above mani over 2 coats of Julep's Sienna which I had worn the day before.  Everyone needs a nice foily golden color like this! It's very festive!

Sorry for the short post, but I gotta run!  Have a wonderful night lovelies!

China Glaze Ulta Exclusive - Fireside Glow

Hi guys!  Hope everyone is having a fantastic week!  Thanks to everyone that left sweet comments the other day, I just get frustrated and whatnot blogging sometimes.....but you guys are awesome, so thanks again!  Love you guys!

Well today I wanted to show you a new polish from Ulta, it's an exclusive color only carried at Ulta.  I picked up two of them, this is Fireside Glow and the other one is Ultamate Holiday.  There was also a pink foil one that I did not pick up since it's similar to other colors I have.

It's a copper glitter with sparse holo glitter in it.  It's very purdy, and very subtle.  It's definitely a work safe glitter.

Short post from me tonight, sorry!  Thanks for stopping by and reading and commenting!

Review - Glitter eyeshadow's and lipsticks, oh my!

Hello again!  I wanted to review a product I got last week, and showed in my glittery eyeliner look from last week.  (Was that a crazy run on sentance?!?)

I saw these in a new display in Ulta they are called Hydra Liquid Shadow by LA Splash in Majestic and Holographic.  The display had probably about 10 colors, half of which were actual liquid shadow, while the other half consisted of glitter in a clear base like these two.  The purple one is just pinky/purple glitter, but the holographic one.....

.....is so freaking awesome in the bottle!  It doesn't come across in this pic, but it's a linear holo in the bottle.  These bottles come with a doefoot applicator, and I found the best way to apply it was by doing dabbing motions, not swiping motions.

The glitter is very densely packed which is nice.  I also found it stuck around all day without budging or flaking off which for us contact lens wearers is a plus.  Actually any eyeball user would find a benefit to that, lol!

I plan on getting the others of these, which I'm sure included a teal, blue, green....etc.  I highly recommend these to you ladies who like to wear glittery looks.

Next up are Wet N Wild's Mega Last Lip Color in Mauve Outta Here and Cherry Bomb.

These are so pigmented.  If you know me, you know I hate wearing lipstick, that's been changing recently as I keep finding better lipsticks.  I HATE the way most lipsticks feel on my lips, that almost tacky feeling they get.  I like being able to move my lips around and have not stick to each other (does that make sense?  I like the slick feeling like your wearing a lipbalm).  These are quite comfortable for me to wear, and they are easy to apply, and don't look drying.  Another thing I don't like about most lipsticks is they highlight my dry lips, not so with these, and I love that!  While I haven't worn the darker Cherry Bomb out, I have worn the pink one, which turns a much brighter pink on my lips, but it's quite flattering on me, which doesn't happen often!

There is only two downsides to these lipsticks.  1) they don't have the names on the tubes.  The names are on the little plastic wrapper that seals the lipstick.  I had to look the names up online. And 2) I wish the product would go all the way down in the tube.  I like when lipsticks can retract all the way, and I always seem to gouge into a product that doesn't, as you can see I did to the pink color.  Very minor, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Thanks for stopping by!

Nails Inc - Trafalgar Square

Ugg....I feel like I've hit a blogging roadblock.  I'm tired of doing nail posts all the time, but it's really the only thing I have worth posting right now.  My makeup has been less than stellar lately, and I don't have time to do review posts all the time!  I also hate feeling like nobody actually reads what I write.  I admit I do go to other blogs just to look at the pics, but there are quite a few that I look forward to reading.  I try hard to make mine like that for all you followers, but I can't help feeling like mine is one of the boring blogs.  I know, whine, whine, whine....worlds smallest violin....blah, blah, blah! lol!

ANYWAYS......

This is Trafalgar Square by Nails Inc.  This is my first Nails Inc polish, and my first magnetic polish.  I swear I had some magnetic polish when I was a teen....but maybe I'm just going crazy.  Anywhoo, there is quite a learning curve to this magnetic polish stuff.....I thought it would be easy, but apparently for me, it is not, lol!  What you see here is my second attempt, and I don't think it looks like any of the other mani's I've seen using magnetic polish.  I don't know what I did wrong.  How long are you supposed to hold the magnet over the polish?  (I would read the instructions on the cap....had they been in english! lol)  I'm thinking I might not have held the magnet over the polish long enough.

Magnetic polishes are all the rage right now, and honestly, it's a much better fad then the damn crackles!  I can get behind this one!  This polish has the coolest 3D like affect to it that doesn't show up in pics.  It reminds me of those wood plaque like things from the 80's that had like an eagle on it, or Elvis, or galloping horses.....you guys know what I'm talking about?  Google img is not helping me out!  Anyways, if you know what I'm talking about, this totally reminds me of those!

And, last, but not least, I have to show you the gingerbread houses my bf and I made the other day.  These bad boys took us a good FOUR HOURS to make!  I bought this kit at Michael's, and did not realize it would be so small!  These houses are tiny!  We had such a blast making them though, I'm sure the alcohol we consumed helped the process along, and the Christmas music that we blasted!  When all was said and done, we were tired by the end of it, and as you can see by the last house my bf made (I think it's pretty obvious which one that was!!) we just wanted it to be over and done with!  And the next day, we realized we forgot to add a door to the last house, lol!

Thanks for those of you still sticking around to hear me ramble on....I really do appreciate you guys!

Color Club's Sugar Plum Fairy

Ugg....I hate the name of this polish....it's very lame and unoriginal in my opinion, especially for such an awesome polish!  This is Sugar Plum Fairy from the Color Club's Beyond the Mistletoe.  I've had this collection for like 2 months, and have yet to wear any of it....until now, and I LOVE this one!

There's so much holo glitter in this, it's insane!  I layered it over OPI's DS Diamond so there weren't aren't any naked spots.

There is a slight lavender tint to this polish that only came out in certain lighting, most of the time it just looked like a silverish glitter with tons of holo glitter thrown in.

I couldn't keep my eyes off this, it was so eyecatching!

Orly's Space Cadet

Good morning peeps!  Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend.  I mentioned Friday that I was going to Sky High, the trampoline place on Sat, and OMG is that place so much fun!  I haven't been on a trampoline since I was a kid, and all the memories came flooding back.  And wow is jumping on giant trampolines a crazy workout!  I was out of breath with just 10 minutes of jumping.  The only downfall is lots of people, and it smells like stinky feet, lol!  Oh it was just so much fun, seeing all the adults jumping around like little kids with huge grins on their faces.  Highly recommended!

Anywhoo, onto the nails! This color needs no introduction.  I know it's done all over the place, but I don't care!  This polish came out last fall, and set the nail world a buzzing.  Everyone went ape shit for this color.  I *thought* that this collection was limited edition, but I keep seeing the display at my local Ulta being restocked, so this color isn't really hard to find.

This is the most shape shifting color I have ever come across.  It does weird things though, as you can see in my first pic, I tips ARE covered, yet it looks like I've had shrinkage, when I in fact do not.  There are also tons of bald spots, which aren't really noticeable unless you are me, lol!

I asked myself why I have only worn this color once, and then I had to remind myself, application on this sucks hard core!!  What you see here is FOUR, yes FOUR coats! And it still could have used another!  But, if you have the patience, it's totally worth it.

This color flashes lime green, gold, bronze, pink and purple.....and sometimes all at the same time! I dare you not to stare at your nails all day while wearing this color.  It makes you ponder life......why is the sky blue?!?

Sorry this is blurry, but you can see the pink flash here.

Removal was really easy.  I for some reason thought it was difficult.  BUT it is very strange to remove this polish, it turns teal when you remove it.  Almost like a patina color, very strange!

Any of you ladies own this color?  Does it boggle your mind like it does mine?
