Review - L'oreal Voluminous False Lashes

First of all, what is this mascara called?  I had to look online, cause I was SURE this must be a fiber mascara, but as I threw away the package as soon as I opened it, I wasn't sure.  So I looked online under the name below, and what I found was Voluminous False Fiber Lashes, and I even found the box which says the same, yet my tube doesn't say that.  Maybe there are different names for the same product.  I don't know, lol!

Anywhoo, I got this product about a week ago.  L'oreal was having a promotion on their facebook page where they were sending out free full size samples....score!  I love free samples!  I was actually shocked to see that it was full size, as I've seen these in the store, and they retail for somewhere around $10 or $11.

The tube is weird and angular, don't care for it.

The brush though, ahh I love it!  I tried to show it, but it's got kinda a helix shape to it.

It's also got a tapered tip like one of my all time favorite mascara's Lash Stiletto by Maybelline.  (Lash Stiletto on the left)

AND, the brush is at a slight angle, which I love as well.

As I mentioned above, I threw away the packaging before I read what this mascara is supposed to do, but since it's a fiber mascara, I'm going to assume it's supposed to be lengthening.  Well I haven't experienced that as you can tell by my stubby lashes above.

But I do find it very voluminous like the name indicates.  It separates my lashes well without leaving them clumpy.  You will notice a few little clumps at the tips of my lashes, as I'm usually a three coat mascara-er, I usually just pick the little clumps off.

All in all, I really love this mascara.  I would definitely buy it again.  As some of you might know if you read my blog, I don't buy high end mascara.  To me, there is just no need to spend $20-$30 dollars on a mascara when you can find nice alternatives for half the price.  In my day, I have purchased high end mascaras, thinking they would be "better" because of the price, but I have never tried a high end mascara I actually liked.  So what I'm trying to say is, don't be a mascara snob!  You really can find a cheaper mascara for your needs!

Anyone else score this freebie?

  1. I'm sorry, but it's a major pet peeve of mine when companies say they have "False Lash" mascara. It's just not possible to get the same effect without false lashes. Even if it's nice mascara, it's never going to happen! /endrant

    Good review though!

  2. I completely agree that there is no need to spend so much money on expensive mascara. To be honest, I don't think there is a dramatic difference on the result of the lashes even though you've paid a dramatic difference in price lol

  3. @Meredith - I agree! Though what really kills me is the commercials where models are wearing overtly obvious falsies. Ugg....really false advertising!

  4. I really like how this looks! I was so disappointed in their "million lashes" or whatever it was that came out a little while ago. This has the exact kind of brush that I like in a mascara, so I think I'll definitely give it a try. I'm using Maybelline Falsies right now but i HATE IT. Too wet and soo clumpy. This looks like a much better alternative =)

  5. I tried to get this but I never won haha. It looks nice, I'm glad the brush isn't a rubber bristle brush, I really don't like those!
